What if Israel had been carved out of Germany and Poland?
A Klassic Krul Komment that suggested how we might have avoided decades of Middle East turmoil
Imagine, if you will, a post-WWII decision, to set aside a portion of Germany and a contiguous part of Poland (after all, their Judeaophobia was nearly as virulent and complicit as Germany's), perhaps the proverbial size of New Jersey, as a permanent refuge for the survivors of the Holocaust and any other Jews who chose to move there. Let's call it Yudeland.
Pick a relatively sparsely-populated area, but, given that the Germans were responsible for the war, if any had to be relocated to some other part of Germany, fuck em; at least they'd still be in Germany, unlike the Palestinians forced from their own land. Or perhaps an area already well-established for a long period with Jewish roots, familiar to many already, with Jewish graveyards and other historical artifacts to build around.
Imagine how different the world would be if a de jure Jewish state had not been imposed on the land already mostly inhabited by Palestinians, which, had it been allowed to continue after the war with the self-determination of the majority of inhabitants, might have been a model of peaceful cohabitation of Muslims, Jews, and Christians who'd have no reason to be at each others' throats. Plenty of historical examples of Muslim-majority countries welcoming Jews and treating them with respect and participation in civic affairs.
Yes, even an ambitious grifter like Ben Mileikowski may have eventually become the prime minister of Yudeland, and he wouldn't have had to leave his own European region.
