As the unwanted emails keep multiplying with each unsubscribe, I'm trying two new tactics. First, if they give me the option during the unsubscribe to report it as spam, I do so; this may give them the understanding that I am willing to report them elsewhere and external pressure will be brought to bear on them. Second, I am putting each post into the junk folder rather than just deleting them. This may train the email program to recognize future iterations of the post, or the sender, and dump future posts into the junk folder without me having to do so.

We all know that a yellow traffic light means to speed up. So I guess a similar practice must be operating within the online promotional community. Instead of slowing down and preparing to stop spamming me after I sent a slew of unsubscribe requests, I have been subject to increased spamming of the very posts I've already told them I don't want to see any more, AND additional similar posts from the same source, even identical ones but with different headings. Yes, where I might have received ONE of these posts every third day, NOW I'm seeing the same post three or more times IN ONE DAY!

Psychologically, I can only assume the following. They know that I have asked for them to stop sending me the posts, and may stop after the 72 hours some say are needed to "process" my request. Interesting that they have no difficulty "processing" an increase in sending me the same and similar posts immediately! But since they have one last shot at getting me to respond to ANY of these posts before they stop, they must think that it's better to bombard me before then on the off chance that I may respond positively to one of them before no chances remain.

They must not have learned the fable about the sun and the wind contesting who could make the guy take his coat off. Don't they realize that the more they anger me with ignoring my request and sending MORE than they would have had I not asked them to, it only makes me LESS likely to support anything they are promoting?
